An SDN-Based Publish/Subscribe-Enabled Communication Platform for loT Services

摘要:Publish/subscribe paradigm paves away to integrate and serve many scalable, in-ter-operable Internet of Things (loT) applica-tions. The increasing IoT applications requirenew properties of publish/subscribe commu-nication model, for example, strict quality ofservice (QoS) guarantees, supporting a largenumber of widely distributed devices, etc.Software Defined Networking (SDN) enablespersonalized programming and individualizedQoS supports for different applications. Thecombination of the two will have a good pros-pect. In this paper, we present an loT-orientedcommunication platform which combinesthe publish/subscribe paradigm with SDN,aiming at establishing an loT ecosystem tofacilitate loT services/applications accessinginternet. We design the interaction logic oftopic-based publish/subscribe middleware,and describe the setup and maintenance of to-pology information as well as event routing indetail, considering the characteristics of SDN.Finally, we exemplify its practicability with adeployed District Heating Control and Infor-mation Service System (DHCISS) and validitythe effectiveness with some experiments.
