摘要:In this paper, we investigate thepolarization effect of the amplitude phase shiftkeying (APSK) constellations. We find that thepolarization effect of the APSK constellationsis affected by the bit mapping and the bit load-ing. Traditionally, the Gray mapping is usuallyadopted in APSK constellations. Based on thegiven Gray mapping, we firstly propose thebit interleaved coded modulation polar-APSK(BICM-PA) scheme, which neglects the cor-relations between the bit levels by using thebit interleaver. In the BICM-PA scheme, a newmetric called cumulative Bhattacharyya pa-rameter is introduced to optimize the bit load-ing of the APSK constellations under the Graymapping. Second, the multilevel coded mod-ulation polar-APSK (MLCM-PA) is proposedto further improve the performance. A two-stage optimization approach is adopted to se-lect the bit mapping and the bit loading in theMLCM-PA scheme. The semi-set partitioningmapping is introduced to achieve a better sys-tem performance in the MLCM-PA scheme.Simulation results verify the effectiveness ofall the proposed metrics. In addition to this,BICM-PA and MLCM-PA both outperform thecoded modulation Turbo-APSK scheme up toldB.
