摘要：Edgar Allen Poe(1809-1849)is a gr eat novelist and poet,literary critic,he is a pr olific and versatile writer in the 19th century America.Today,he was remembered by his poems,horr or tale.His poem is alw ays full of love and hope,while his novel is alw ays full of terror and horrific.That’s because he is good at describe and explore people’s psychology and the seamy side of the human moral.His famous short novel is The Fall of the House of Usher,is a short story of Gothic horror written in first-person point of view.It is a story that happened during the whole of a dull and soundless day in the autumn of the year.Usher,with his twin sister Madeline,live in a melancholy and choking house,which inherited from his family.As a childhood friend of Usher’s,the narrator has received a letter from a boyhood acquaintance,Roderick Usher,begging that he come to him“posthaste.”Usher has written to explain that he is suffering from a terrible mental bodily illness,and longer for the companionship of“his only personal friend.”The plea seems so heartfelt that Narrator immediately set out for the Usher ancestral home.When he arrives,he has to watch the two twin sister and brother’s sick actions,like the death and revive of the sister Madeline and the changing of Roderick’s craziness.The narrator comes to visit them and he witnesses all the terrifying events.At the end of the story he finally gets away from the house of Usher and the house of Usher crushed down in to the well near by.
