摘要:The Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis(SWH) highlightsSapir's and Whorf's viewpoints of the relationship between language and thought. They hold that language and thought are somewhat interwoven. Language is not simply a way of voicing ideas, but is the very thing which shapes those ideas. This paper confirms Sapir's and Whorf's views on language and culture and discusses the implications of Sapir -Whorf Hypothesis for Chinese-English learners. This paper also provides a contrast between English and Chinese characteristics.
