摘要：The book reviewed in the present paper contains 44 representative theses of the Institute’s Paleolithic archaeologists published in the 20^th century，and is appended with catalogues of their works and achronicle of events in the Paleolithic archaeology of China．Since the 1920s，a series of discoveries have been achieved in the field．The most important is that of the Beijing Zhoukoudian site，to which Profs．Pei Wenzhong and Jia Lanpo devoted all their lives．Before them，Prof．YangZhongjian had directed this work，which，however，is not mentioned in the book．This might be an oversight and omission．In Neolithic archaeology,the seniors in the Institute also did a lot of pioneer work and set up excellent tradition．But it is noteworthy that recently there appeared the tendency of neglecting the transitional link from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic Age．
