摘要：Journey to the West is a well-known masterpiece in China and the rest of the world,which is one of the four artistic treasures.This mythological novel abounds with numerous cultural,religious and political elements and reached the top of the classic culture in Ming Dynasty.With regard to the issue of"cultural imagery"(Cheng Zhaowei 2009:234),this literary work is the most typical one,which converges lot of ancient myths,wonderful description of scenery and lives in the heaven and the ground.This thesis focuses on the translation research on some representative cultural imageries in chapter23 such as the imagery of"Long"and the imagery of"XiZi".These imageries have been rooted in the hearts of Chinese people deeply.Cultural imageries are abstract conceptions.Only those who are familiar with Chinese classic culture can apprehend the meanings of them.
