摘要：Homer was the earliest and greatest Greek poet.He also was the father of epic poetry.His two great works,Iliad and Odyssey,present certain events of the mythical Trojan War and its aftermath.Both were called Homeric epics.They are the head of western literature.Iliad and Odyssey had their own value and had profound influence on European literature.Many subsequent European writers were strongly affected by these two works during their literary creation.For this reason,we could find the vestiges of Homeric epics in many western works.Meanwhile,Homeric epics still left a good many allusions and legends which offered rich subject matters to European literature.
