摘要：Motivation of learning English as a second language has been being paid much attention for many years.This critical review focuses on a research article,titled a self system perspective on young adolescents’motivation to learn English in urban and rural settings,written by Martin Lamb.This article is not a general analysis on motivation of learning English as a second language(ESL),but concentrates on two specific aspects:one is based on a self system perspective(D?rnyei’s,2009),and the other is to set the young adolescents in Indonesia as its target objects,and to compare the distinguish of young adolescents’motivation to learn English under the modern globalization context among three different regions.
