摘要：Things did not delay in turning more curious yet. Between 1032 and 1036 was a driveway, two strips2 of cement for car wheels, weeds growing between them. Why not? I asked myself, might as well. Sure enough, in back of 1032 Bancroft Way was a small white bungalow with a few wooden steps up to a door, on which were tacked3 the numbers "1”"0”“3” and "4.” So the phone book was correct. As I stood there on the threshold4 of some discovery, wondering what or who was on the other side of that door, a large black dog came at me, snarling5 and barking.
